Why it pays over time to have an extra Freezer or Refrigerator Freezer combo in the house (basement or garage)

The Frugal Gastronomy way requires that you invest in an extra Freezer or Refrigerator/Freezer combo as it will pay for itself.

Aside from shopping weekly for our fresh fruits and vegetables (if we didn’t grow them from our garden) we try to shop the sales and stock up, having extra space in our 1 extra freezer and 1 extra refrigerator/freezer combo.

Full disclosure, we purposefully went out to buy the extra freezer and when we upgraded some appliances we kept the old refrigerator/freezer for this purpose. You can even buy an old one someone is selling on your local craigslist.

This allows us to save money when items go on sale rather than buying things when we run out and paying a premium.  Buying in bulk and when on sale optimizes your grocery bills.

If you have a green thumb you can also grow your own herbs inside, year round and vegetables seasonally (east coast season’s here in PA) and freeze, or even cook and freeze in some cases.

Mary

Frugal Gastronomy was born out of Mary’s creative mind (and stomach). The desire to eat restaurant quality food at a lower price point at home.

She has the motivation and unique ability to crave something, look up some recipes out there, and modify them to taste even better.

She has the ability to eat something at a restaurant and think about how it could have been better, then come home and recreate it with her twist.

She also has the uncanny ability to find a deal and shop the sales so we have the ingredients at home so when she craves something, she doesn’t need to run out and pay full price or even “Overpay” for convenience.

She started this blog and her website to pass on this knowledge on to other foodies to enjoy……
