Servings 1 jar (about 8 servings)

Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • 25-ounce mason jar

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups bourbon
  • 1/3 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1 vanilla bean split
  • 2 cups fresh or dehydrated blueberries washed

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, bring the bourbon, sugar, and vanilla to a simmer over low heat. Simmer and stir until the sugar dissolves, then turn off the heat and let sit for at least 15 minutes.
  • Pack your blueberries into the mason jar, snuggling them in tight without smashing them. Pour the syrup over the berries until it covers the fruit completely. If you have leftover syrup, save it for a cocktail.
  • Place the vanilla bean into the jar, seal the lid tightly, and store the berries in the refrigerator. They should be used within one year.

Frugal Gastronomy was born out of Mary’s creative mind (and stomach). The desire to eat restaurant quality food at a lower price point at home.

She has the motivation and unique ability to crave something, look up some recipes out there, and modify them to taste even better.

She has the ability to eat something at a restaurant and think about how it could have been better, then come home and recreate it with her twist.

She also has the uncanny ability to find a deal and shop the sales so we have the ingredients at home so when she craves something, she doesn’t need to run out and pay full price or even “Overpay” for convenience.

She started this blog and her website to pass on this knowledge on to other foodies to enjoy……
