Servings 1 jar (about 8 servings)
Saucepan
25-ounce mason jar
- 1 3/4 cups bourbon
- 1/3 cup granulated white sugar
- 1 vanilla bean split
- 2 cups fresh or dehydrated blueberries washed
In a medium saucepan, bring the bourbon, sugar, and vanilla to a simmer over low heat. Simmer and stir until the sugar dissolves, then turn off the heat and let sit for at least 15 minutes.
Pack your blueberries into the mason jar, snuggling them in tight without smashing them. Pour the syrup over the berries until it covers the fruit completely. If you have leftover syrup, save it for a cocktail.
Place the vanilla bean into the jar, seal the lid tightly, and store the berries in the refrigerator. They should be used within one year.
