Equipment
- Baking dish
Ingredients
- 4 panko breaded chicken tenders
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 jar marinara sauce of your preference
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 handful fresh basil leaves
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Bake the breaded chicken according to package instructions. (Tip: cook it halfway, then finish it in the oven at step 5.)
- Transfer the cooked chicken to a baking dish and layer with marinara sauce.
- Spoon more marinara sauce over each piece of chicken, then sprinkle with Italian seasoning, shredded mozzarella, and grated Parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh basil leaves, if desired, before serving.
Notes
- Shortcut: Frozen panko-breaded chicken cutlets speed things up and turn out less greasy and less dense than homemade breaded chicken. Pre-cooked cutlets work too, but you may lose some flavor from overcooking.
- Extra Crispy: Cook the chicken about halfway, then finish baking it once it’s topped with sauce and cheese in step 5.
- Serving Suggestion: Serve with pasta, garlic bread, or a salad.
